Resident Engineer

For a leading consultancy firm in the data center industry, we are looking for an experienced Resident Engineer to join the team in Frankfurt (Germany). The ideal candidate will have a background in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil / Structural Engineering (CSA). In this crucial role, you will act as the link between design teams and the actual construction and execution of a data center projects. You will work closely with the back-office engineers and designers responsible for data center development and serve as the primary on-site contact for contractors and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve submittals and project documentation.
  • Actively participate in the Request for Information (RFI) process and coordinate technical queries.
  • Inspect and evaluate site works to ensure execution aligns with design and specifications.
  • Delegate tasks to contractors and monitor progress, quality, and safety of work.
  • Serve as the first point of contact on-site for contractors and suppliers.
  • Act as the client’s representative, ensuring their interests are safeguarded during the construction phase.
  • Identify technical and operational challenges and proactively contribute to solutions.
  • Document and report construction progress, deviations, and risks to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Work on-site in Frankfurt approximately three days per week, with the remaining days spent at the office or working remotely.

Your Profile

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a related field (CSA).
  • Extensive experience with Mission Critical Infrastructure (such as data centers, hospitals, or other technical buildings).
  • Previous experience in a similar role within construction and engineering consultancy.
  • Strong ability to bridge the gap between engineering and execution.
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience in contractor management and quality control.
  • Familiarity with construction and safety regulations within the EU (knowledge of German regulations is a plus).
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in German is a strong advantage.
  • Proactive work attitude and excellent communication skills.
